Pixelated Landscape Architecture Blending Mountain City Memories with a New Lifestyle

Commissioned by Wanhua Group, E PLUS DESIGN has created “LUXERIVERS · Green Heart,” a core eco-mixed use complex for the LUXERIVERS project in Chongqing. Located on the shores of a park lake, the project serves as a convergence point for ecology, art, commerce, and community, fostering a lifestyle that is “half nature, half urban vibrancy.”

Through pixelated landscape architecture, the design blends the memories of the mountain city with a new lifestyle. With its innovative concept of the “Boundless Mountain City,” E PLUS DESIGN has created a landmark park-based commercial destination. Breaking free from the established logic of traditional commercial architecture, the design weaves together the texture of the mountain city, the vibrancy of daily life, public art, and the natural landscape.

易加设计受万华集团委托，为重庆麓悦江城项目打造的核心生态综合体——麓悦江城・绿心Green Heart，项目位于公园湖畔，是生态、艺术、商业与社群的交汇点，营造“一半自然，一半烟火”的生活方式。

以像素化的地景建筑，融合山城记忆与全新生活方式。易加设计以“无界山城”的全新构想，落地即成现象级公园商业，跳出传统商业建筑的既定逻辑，把山城肌理、烟火日常、艺术公共与自然山川编织在一起。

The project is located in Chongqing’s Liangjiang New Area, approximately a 40-minute drive from the city center, adjacent to Luxi Lake. Given the large site area, lengthy development cycle, and sparse population—which requires a gradual influx of residents—the development outlook and timeline remain unclear. The client aims to establish a commercial community complex in this remote, hilly area to serve the surrounding neighborhoods.

Therefore, the Green Heart Commercial District must serve as a pioneering supporting facility, growing alongside the entire community over time. At the same time, it serves as a key experiential and attraction hub, bringing vitality and foot traffic to the area. The site features complex topography with significant elevation changes. The northern entrance is situated at a three-story level, requiring smooth guidance of pedestrian flow down to the Green Heart Park below. Additionally, within strict planning coverage requirements, the design must incorporate reasonable terraced setbacks to accommodate the fire access loop road across the elevation differences while minimizing mountain excavation. This series of technical constraints tests the project’s ability to translate design concepts into reality.

Facing highly flexible development prospects, the architecture employs minimalist material combinations to create a relaxed, restrained framework of negative space, leaving room for commercial tenants and community users to define the space. The elegant black-and-white palette features highquality cast-in-place exposed concrete, silver-gray metal frames, and glass that form simple pixel-like modules.

Delicate decorative joints use shadows to reinforce the order of the units, creating a look that is understated yet rich in texture. Greenery extends from the park into the building’s interior, softening the austerity of hard materials and blending the vibrancy of daily life with nature. The warm wood tones and bright accents brought by commercial, community, and artistic activities illuminate Chongqing’s overcast skies, infusing the city with vitality

项目位于重庆两江新区，距离主城约四十分钟车程，比邻麓溪湖。用地大，开发周期长、人口较少，需要逐步导入，开发的前景和节奏并不清晰。客户希望在这样一个远郊丘陵地带， 建立一个为周边社区配套的商业社区综合体。

因此绿心商业必须作为先行配套设施，陪伴整个社区慢慢成长。同时作为一个重要的体验和吸引点， 为片区带来活力和人流。

场地地形复杂、落差巨大，北侧入口设于三层标高，人流需要顺畅引导至下方绿心公园；同时还要在严格的规划覆盖率下做出合理退台，让消防环道适应高差，尽可能减少山体开挖，一系列技术约束都在考验设计的落地能力。

面对极具弹性的发展前景， 建筑以极简的材料搭配，营造出松弛、克制的留白框架， 将发挥空间留给商业租户和社区用户。 黑白素雅的基调，高品质现浇清水混凝土、银灰色金属框与玻璃组成简洁的像素模块，精致的装饰缝借阴影强化单元秩序，低调却极具质感。绿植从公园延伸进建筑内部，软化硬质材料的冷峻，让烟火与自然相融。 商业、社群与艺术活动带来的木色和明亮跳色，点亮重庆的阴天，带来活力。
